Heart Society Concert in collaboration with CAC

Heart Society a Band from the United States spent two days with us at CAC and collaborated with our artist practicing for the Heart Society Concert at CAC presented by the U.S Embassy Dar Es Salaam.

Heart Society is a group of three - two women: singer/guitarist and drummer and a men playing the bass. They spread a message of love and equality through folk/soul and rock&roll music. On behalf of the US State Department they came to Africa (Tanzanian and Nigeria) to share music and empowerment and we at CAC were honored to be their first destination.

CAC artists and the trio spent two days sharing musical experiences and exchanging knowledge. Apart from practicing for the Concert that marked the end of the two days workshop, we off course showed them around CAC and taught them about Tanzanian culture including providing traditional food which they said they loved.

The result of the collaboration was a free concert at the CAC performance hall presented by the U.S Embassy Dar Es Salaam. CAC artists opened the concert and performed a few of their traditional dances as well as sang some CAC Fusion songs. Heart Society took over to perform their songs and later on invited CAC back on stage to present what they had been practicing on - a song called “Tupo Pamoja” (we are together).

We had lots of fun working with Heart Society Band and looking forward to further collaborations. A huge thanks goes to U.S Embassy Dar Es Salaam for making this possible, it’s been awesome!
